Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
It is always the case that the better a manager does the more it raises expectation. The more so when any objective analysis would show that the team has been punching above its weight.

The EPL has a top three teams and next a cohort of Spurs, Arsenal, ManU, Leicester and WHU. It is arguable that of those teams we have the weakest squad. Over time the only way to be competitive is to at least equal if not improve our squad in comparison to our peer group.

Moyes and his coaching team have elevated us into the top eight but the reality is we need to overachieve again in order to get the last CL place because three of our peer group have stronger squads.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with signing Areola and Kral. We moaned for months about our only goalkeeper being old and injury prone and that we're 1 injury away from starting Noble in the mid and now suddenly Areola and Kral weren't necessary?

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Kral is on loan, Areola has been good - didn't concede a goal in his first 4 games wasn't it?

vlasic, like Benrahma will need time.

Jesus, talk about trying to look for reasons to have a pop.

Players for the sake of it - Vlasic, Kral, Areola.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Simon, I think we did try to address it, but for one reason or another the players we were after didn't materialise, and as he said he didn't want to buy players for the sake of it in particular because of our history of doing so.

can't blame him for that.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
As we can now see, even when Antonio plays, there’s no guarantee we’ll see consistency from him, that’s without the injury that might never be that far away. And that’s not on Antonio, that’s on Moyes, who will then look to Bowen or Yarmalenko to try and fill that role, which they can’t. Not even sure this will be the window to try and put that right, but for all the manager’s good work, this should have been addressed at the end of last season.

Moyes has performed miracles.

6th placed finish last season with the most amount of points we have ever got in a Premier League season.

Into the last 16 of the Europa League, Quarter Finals of the League Cup and top 6 of the Premiership.

As soon as we got some injuries and our only recognised striker lost form then we were always going to struggle.

My only gripe at Moyes is the Vlasic signing. For one he should have prioritised a centre forward over him and secondly why pay 25 million for someone and then lose confidence in him so quickly that you don’t even bring him off the bench when we have no other options?

That signing is going to prove costly.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Fighting for the top 4 got people thinking we have a top4 team. We don't. There are at least 6-7 teams who are better then us (or not worse at least). Moyes is a miracle worker.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
I'm staggered at what Moyes has achieved but you only have to look at Everton to see how a team can go free fall down the league.
His choices for the most have been great but lately he needs us to be 4 or 5 nil up before he can make his subs.
Against Vienna he should of brought on some youngsters to give them some minutes before a full 90.
His subs have always been odd in the main. 2 against Burnley and not until the 70th minute. Against Burnley Kral should have had 30 mins.
Tonight something different was required. I can't work out why the penalty save changed his mind about bringing on Ashby. Strange and confusing.
Two subs when down to 10 men and with the fixtures , frigging stupid and stubborn.
Then to call out Coufal in the way he did on Tv was out of order.

The squad isn't good enough and no strikers doesn't help.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
I love the job he's done but he's gradually reverting to his old forelock tugging self when up against the so called bigger teams. he continues with a system that clearly isn't working, refuses to make substitutions until it's too late and because of his own choice, has zero options in regard to replacing a clearly out of form striker. that arsenal team are average but they do work hard and it was clear the midfield were overrun yet he did nothing

Bargain. Let's hope they haven't lied about it in the accounts too.

Yeah, the figure is never exaggerated by the club to make it look like we’ve spent more than we actually have, is it?!

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Moyes ‘got away’ with not having a striker last season when Lingard came in and I think he’s tried to do that again. He clearly loves an attacking midfielder who can ‘do a job’ up front, but that’s now beginning to show serious flaws.

I think he wanted to be a low-budget Man City with attacking players just doing their thing and rotating up front, but that’s easier said than done. Moyes has been phenomenal for us but he’s got to start earning his money again now. It is concerning.

master 1:01 Thu Dec 16
Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Championship manager would be saying we should have bought Messi or Salah.

Every suggestion I made is realistic and perfectly reasonable.

Moyes has done fantastically for so long. I was never against him coming back, unlike many others.

But when he gets it wrong, and continues to repeat mistakes, it's absolutely reasonable to call a spade a spade and dig him out.

For fucks sake, our game plan against Burnley was to cross it to the arms of their keeper. The worst team in the league to do that against. The bloke has drunk all the sherry recently.

Master it’s not championship manager. Vlasic has been dogshit so far and Kral doesn’t look like he can kick a ball. We just don’t have the squad depth. The only thing I can agree on if not buying another striker. Fuck knows why but Antonio’s form is my main concern. Digging out Moyes is a joke

1) then tell these guys coz all I'm doing is repeating what they've written https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12395645/west-ham-transfer-news-nikola-vlasic-completes-move-from-cska-moscow

2) it doesn't matter. He spunked a shit load of money on a player he won't play when he knew we needed a striker. Any striker.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Vlasic was nowhere near that amount!
